I studied Psychology for 6 years, have a degree (2:1hons) and carried out research for a PhD. Then I started a successful career in Human Resources (HR) across several industries and internationally, my last HR role was at Director level. I spent 7 years as an international senior management consultant for Hewitt Associates in St Albans and specialised in factor-based job evaluation. This, combined with my extensive HR and recruitment experience, has provided me with exceptional knowledge of different sectors, different roles and career pathways.

I took a career break to raise my children and then changed career direction and worked for an executive outplacement company (Drake, Beam and Morin) where I had the highest re-employment rate in the Birmingham Office for 3 years

 

My next venture was to create and manage a thriving Employment Service for the over 50s in Milton Keynes. Creating cvs and cover letters tailored to specific roles, combined with interview coaching to improve confidence, led to high success rates. Client roles were hugely varied, many referrals came from Job Centre Plus and many from word of mouth.

 

As a freelance consultant I worked for the National Careers Service coaching their Advisors across the Southeast in how to effectively support people over 50 find new jobs. I also consulted for the Probation Service for two years, running half day courses to help instil confidence in young offenders to enable them to move forwards with their lives in a positive way. Milton Keynes Council asked me to design and deliver an Information, Advice and Guidance Course to improve the skills of their employment advisors and they also asked me to work to support tenants who were at risk of losing their homes. I am a qualified Careers Advisor, worked part-time at Milton Keynes College supporting students and I have a teaching qualification.
